Power
Rankings: May 27-June 9
Its
that time of the month again to look at the power rankings. As a quick reminder to everyone I look
at the numbers over the last 2 weeks and what the team has done up to this
point rank the teams going forward.
So without any further delay here’s this weeks power rankings
1. Oakland
Athletics
2. San
Francisco Giants
3. Toronto
Blue Jays
4. Anaheim
Angels
5. Los
Angeles Dodgers
6. Washington
Nationals
7. Detroit
Tigers
8. Milwaukee
Brewers
9. St.
Louis Cardinals
10. Atlanta
Braves
This
was easily the hardest weeks to rank I’ve done so far. So many teams are neck and neck and
many teams have started to regress.
Oakland and San Fran are still my picks to not only win their divisions
but both look like playoff teams this year. Toronto is the one team I can see at the moment really
challenging Oakland for that spot in the World Series. Anaheim and Los Angeles both have been
playing better recently since many of their injuries came back and many slow
starters started to wake up.
Washington is starting to catch fire and rocket onto the list and, like
Toronto, could be the team to challenge San Francisco for that spot in the
WS. Detroit is slipping because
their pitching is struggling and it’s struggling badly, a team ERA of 4.61 in
the last 2 weeks just screams bad times are coming. Milwaukee and St. Louis are about neck and neck and this
could go down to the final weeks of the season till we see who comes out on
top. Atlanta still is struggling
and I don’t see them being in the lead of their division for long with
Washington playing the way it is.
Bottom
5
26.
Texas Rangers
27.
Arizona Diamonbacks
28.
Philadelphia Phillies
29.
Chicago Cubs
30.
Tampa Bay Rays
This
was actually an easier choice than the top ten was. The Rangers are just so banged up I feel bad putting them
here but they’re not hitting practically well and the pitching is just bad. A team ERA of 5.65 and FIP of 5.11 in
two weeks just shows that this team is pitching bad and it’s not from bad luck. Arizona is actually playing way better
and keep looking better, the only reason they’re here this week is the pitching
was just slightly worse than other teams.
Philadelphia is just a mess and I don’t see a easy fix anywhere, this is
a rebuilding team and it’s going to take time for them to come back. Chicago is bad and we knew this was their
fate from the get go, but unlike the rest of the teams down here the future is
quite bright for them. Chicago
could be a potential powerhouse in 3 maybe 4 seasons, just stay patient Cubs
fans I know its tough. Tampa Bay
falls right in with Texas in the injury department but with the lack of offense
and the pitching just not able to hold back the opponents offense this year its
left them a shell of themselves.
Tampa has a rough future and the fact that the once deep farm system is
drained means they’re going to have to get lucky soon or this could be a long
few years.
